Love is a bird with two wings…

“Love is a bird with two wings. One wing is wisdom, the other one is compassion. If either wing is broken, the bird cannot fly.”

Inspired by this Buddhist saying, author Cindy Wigglesworth defined her concept of Spiritual Intelligence: the ability to behave with wisdom and compassion, while maintaining inner and outer peace, regardless of the situation.

When you look at it from a behavioral perspective, SQ becomes more tangible and therefore, it is easier to understand that it can actually be developed and also measured. Have you ever wondered about where you are at this intelligence? What about emotional intelligence? Are you satisfied with your EQ competencies?

Becoming fully human

“Becoming fully human is a great adventure – one that requires us to grow and stretch ourselves.  Do you too feel the call to grow?” – This is how author Cindy Wigglesworth begins Chapter One of her book “SQ21: The 21 Skills of Spiritual Intelligence”, published in 2012.

Spiritual Intelligence, as she defines, is “the ability to behave with wisdom and compassion, while maintaining inner and outer peace, regardless of the situation”. If this sounds quite difficult, it’s because it is. Yet, it is not impossible.

We all learn and grow from the moment we are born, so why not keep developing ourselves and evolving consciously after reaching adult life?

On Love

A poem from The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran

Then said Almitra, Speak to us of Love.
And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said:
When love beckons to you, follow him,
Though his ways are hard and steep.
And when his wings enfold you, yield to him,
Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you, believe in him,
Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
